A Multi-Sensory In-Store Virtual Reality Customer Journey for Retailing: A Field Study in a Furniture Flagship Store

The choice of furniture in a retail store is usually based on product catalog and simplistic renderings with different configurations. We present preliminary field study that tests Multi-Sensory In-Store Virtual Reality Customer Journey (MSISVRCJ) through virtual configurator to support furnishings sales. system allows customers stay immersed the environment (VE) while sales expert changes colors, textures, finishes furniture, also exploring VEs. In addition, can experience realistic tactile feedback in-store samples they test. journey implemented for manufacturer tested flagship store. Fifty real show positive terms general satisfaction, perceived realism, acceptance. This method increase purchase confidence, reduce entrepreneurial costs, leverage versus online shopping.
